This year, I’ve enter Midnight Blue in a few book contests. My main reason for doing this was simply to get a few more people reading this book and hoping that one or two of them maybe liked it enough to share with a friend or two (or pick up the next in the series).
The first contest that announced their finalist was The Selah Awards. And Midnight Blue did not make that list. Then, last Saturday, the FHLRCA (Faith, Hope, and Love Readers’ Choice Awards) finalists were announced. Again, Midnight Blue was absent from that list.
I spent Sunday afternoon at the library where I was writing more of book four of this series. At the end of my writing session, I was scrolling through Facebook and came across this on the Virginia Romance Writers page.
Do you see what book is second from the bottom? I saw this when I most needed it, and I am completely honored to be listed with each of those other authors (all of whom I’ve read and admire). Whether or not I win–and from the competition listed there, I don’t expect to win–I am grateful that my little book is a Holt Medallion Finalist.
The other two contests I’ve entered won’t announce finalists until fall and early 2024, so for now, I’m grateful for this nomination. It’s been a good motivator to keep pressing forward.
